My Life - The Triathlon Way
My Blog's MIA
So my blog posts have been missing in action the past 4 days and that's mainly due to once again being very very busy. Let's start with Monday. After work I headed straight to the Y for my Monday swim. Typically I've had off on Monday's but coach wanted me to go light today......so here's his interperation of light. 2200 yards in the pool, and one killer of a weight lifting workout that lasted a good 90 minutes and left my arms sore for another 3 days!!! Tuesday morning we were up early and out running in the rain before work....not fun. After a very icy and slow 45 minutes it was time to head to work. After work we went to the track for run workout #2 for the day. Again it was another 45 minute run and raining off and on.
So does anyone see a pattern here? Sleep, workout, eat, work, eat, workout, eat, sleep. That's a day in the life of Chad and Jen!!!
Wednesday was a travel day and I was able to get my trainer ride in early before I hit the road to Niagara Falls / Buffalo. I picked up my co-worker and we headed to the falls. It actually was a pretty quick drive except for the weather. At times I thought I was on my way up to Hawi on the big island because the wind was blowing us all over the road. We made it to the falls and checked into the Hilton Niagara. It was really awesome. I got upgraded to a suite and had a room that overlooked the falls. Simply spectacular. After dinner we made our way to the casino. I joined in on a poker game, and was down $200 bucks before I could even blink an eye. I finally gave up, and made my way over to the Roulette wheel for some quick money. Luckily I made $100 bucks back and called it a night.
This morning I got up around 6:45, and headed back to Buffalo for work. After work, we drove to Erie where we'll be based for our Friday job. I ended up going to the local downtown YMCA for my swim and run. Both workouts went well except for the pool only being 20 yards. I had to do some quick math and factor in the extra length per 100. It wasn't too bad, and I ended up with another 3100 yard workout. Afterwards I headed upstairs and jumped on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I had to do 20 minutes in zone 3, and was able to hold a 6:10 mile pace without having my HR creep into Z4.
So like I said very busy once again this week. I know this weekend is going to fly by too! Monday I set off for Southern California (LA) for work. I'm really hoping some warm air moves in and I can run outside in shorts!!!
For some reason spell check isn't working...so I'm sure this post has many typo's. Just too busy to even proof read! Time for bed.
Pump up the volume
Well today marked my longest training week so far of the year, and I'm officially spent! Today was a very long day and I know I'm going to sleep well tonight. As I went to bed last night I was trying to stay optimistic because I had a 3 1/2 hour ride scheduled for the morning. The plan was to sleep in, eat breakfast, go swim, eat lunch, then go for a bike ride before it got dark. Well all went as planned except for one thing. It decided to snow all night long, and we woke with 2-3 inches covering the roads. :( Now I needed a miracle. What were the chances the snow would melt by the time we got home from our swim? ZERO!!! I had to face reality. I was about to go the distance indoors. Now this is a new territory for me. I've biked many century rides outdoors, biked the distance in six Ironman races, why should a 55 (60 at best) mile trainer ride scare me? I'll tell you why. See when you're outdoors you can ease up on the downhills, shift around on your saddle, stand up more often, stretch, oh and you get move fast!!! Very fast at times!!! Indoors is boring. You pop in a movie or a Spinerval, and there's no coasting. Indoors when you stop pedaling, your wheel stops too. VERY BIG DIFFERENCE! ....So let me back up a little. We ate our breakfast it was off to the pool. Today was a big swim workout. 3600 yards total with the main set consisting of 1x1000 yards, 10x100's, and 400 yards of kicking. After we were done swimming we decided to stop at the grocery store for some food for the week. People say to never go to the store when you're hungry, and now I know why! After $130 bucks it was time to come home!!! We cooked up some awesome lemon Tilapia and some rice and it was time to climb on the trainer. We watched two movies and even had time left over to watch some other stuff on TV. Believe it or not the 3 1/2 hours went by faster than I thought. The workout called for 6x10 minute intervals in big ring / 12 (hardest gear on the bike). So here we are..... 4 hours and 45 minutes of training today and I'm cooked. I finished the week with 9600 yards of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 33 miles of running for a total time of 14 hours and 22 minutes.
If you're satisfied....
...then you’re not going to be training to your potential. This is one of those quotes that I really enjoy, and so far has summed up my January. I had a really solid run today, but I was not satisfied. I'm not going to be satisfied until I make it back to Kona. When I suit up with my wetsuit this July in Lake Placid, I want to be in the best shape of my life, and want to give that course everything I have. I know that's asking a lot considering it is the Ironman. I've experienced hell first hand where this race will chew you up and spit you out faster than you can blink. You MUST give it the respect the sport deserves. Tomorrow will be a big day with 3500 yards in the pool tomorrow morning, and then I head outside (hopefully) for 60+ miles.
Locker Room Etiquette
Well this blog might be a little different than my others but something has to be said. As I jump from city to city, gym to gym, locker room to locker room, I have to say that not one city is better than the next when it comes to locker room etiquette. I really don't get it. Do people get to a ceartain age and feel that being naked around other men is completely okay.
The following are excerpts from yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com and serve as excellent guidelines for your next visit to the gym.
Rule #1: You are not a male model. Once you've exited the shower, there is no reason for you to remain naked. Wrap a towel around yourself. Get dressed. Do not put one leg up on a bench to dry off your feet in a crowded locker room. Do not use the hair dryer to dry the hair on your head while naked, and that goes triple for any hair you may want to dry elsewhere. If your locker room has a sauna and/or steam room, cover yourself up before you go in. If you can't bear to cover up, at least put a towel down before you sit ‑- for your own safety, as well as the safety and general comfort level of those who come after you.So in 90% of the men locker rooms I've been in, the showers are open, and the big guy with the hairy back tends to take the shower right next to me. He then drys off, blow drys his hair (while still naked), and doesn't seem to put anything on till he absolutely has to.Rule #2: Locker selection is key. If there are ample lockers available, there is no reason to take the one right next to the only occupied one. According to the law of probability as it applies to gym lockers, you and that person will need to get into yours at the exact same moment. This may result in, at the very least, discomfort, and at the very most, serious injury. Plus it's creepy. It never fails. Rows and rows, aisles and aisles of lockers...here comes the naked guy sitting down right next to me, making himself feel right at home.Rule #3: There are no mats in the locker room for a reason. So you want to stretch after (or before) your workout. Good for you! You're doing right by your muscles and joints. You may not know this, but many gyms come equipped with their very own room for that. Certainly there's an area with mats and balance balls. Do you know what this means? There is absolutely no reason why you have to stretch in the locker room. There's no room for that. And if you must ignore the rules and stretch in the locker room, please don't do it nearly or completely naked (see #1 above).I typically don't see much of this, but regardless, good rule to keep in mindRule #4: There's a time and a place for making new friends. People don't generally like to talk to strangers when they're in a compromising position, i.e., in various states of undress in a locker room. If you feel the need to be a Chatty Cathy, take your cues from the person you're trying to engage. Does she avoid eye contact? Seem hurried in her answers? Blush? These behaviors may indicate the person would like you to stop talking to her. There's nothing more awkward then the big hairy naked guy asking you how your swim went this morning or just simply trying to make small talk. I remember this one guy (while we were in the showers) trying to make small talk about the weather....c'mon. I find that the best way is to make absolutely zero eye contact and they'll eventually get the picture.
The "Y" Away
This morning I was up at 4:00 AM and on my way to the Pittsburgh Airport. It was a really long morning especially because once we boarded the plane we basically sat at the gate for over an hour. I started to get worried that I was going to miss my connection, but then I remembered I was flying through Philly. No worries here, Philly is always late....and I was right. I ran to my gate, and our plane wasn't even there yet. So anyways I flew into Manchester New Hampshire for a fun filled day of work. As soon as work was over I decided to head over to the local
YMCA, my home away from home. Tonight's run called for 75 minutes with 3 x 6 minute intervals in HR zone 3. For me that's a Heart Rate between 165 - 173. After a 25 minute warm up I cranked up the treadmill to 10.0 mph and started interval #1. I felt very comfortable running 6:00 minute miles especially since I didn't even go out of HR Zone 3! Very big milestone in my training. Every week I feel like I'm building a more solid foundation for this summer. So that's all I had for tonight. My flight leaves early tomorrow morning at 7:15 AM. Good night all.
Pictures from bike night

There's Sandy and Gary working hard...

Drew staying focused...

and Coach Troy giving the next interval order!
Double Trouble
Well after a very slippery night at the track last night it was time to go easy for a change. Easy for one workout, and hard for the other. Coaches orders were to run 40 minutes at an "embarrassing slow"pace. Trust me, I wasn't embarrassed....okay so maybe I looked in the opposite direction when cars passed me, but I still wasn't embarrassed. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! After the run Jen and I waited for our guests to arrive. Tonight was group spin night my friends at the Holderbaum house hold! Drew, Sandy, and Gary came over and we all did a very hard base builder Spinerval. I ended up biking for 50 minutes straight in zone 3 (153-160 HR). After we were done biking we ate dinner, Shrimp Stir Fry. It has to be becoming one of my favorite meals....considering I've eaten it 3 days in a row. Drew again won the sweat puddle contest.
Numb 3 times in one week
So the cold jet stream from Minnesota last week decided to follow me home. Jen and I woke up to another chilly morning. Try seven degree's with a windchill on -11 in the Burgh!!! Regardless we layered up and went out for our long run. Today's run called for a 15-20 minute warm-up and then a 1 mile interval on the track at 10 beats lower than my 5a zone (170-172 HR). It was really bone chilling and took forever to warm up. Once we got to the track I started my interval. However my legs didn't want to run with me today. I kept my HR right at 172 and only ran a 6:15 mile....what the heck?? I'm convinced it was the weather and the 10 mph wind that blew non-stop on the track. Anyways I was happy to get in around 10 miles today outdoors in the cold. After we got home we did a quick transition and jumped right into the X-terra. Off to the pool we went. We swam a easy 3000 yards today in the pool and now for my favorite part of the day. On our way home we stopped at Kohls and used some of our gift cards and treated ourselves to a new smoothie maker! We then went straight to the grocery store, bought some groceries and I just finished up drinking the best smoothie ever!!! Here's my secret recipe for the best smoothie you'll ever drink!!! 4 Strawberries, 6-10 Blueberries, 1/4 cup Raspberries, half a banana, 1/2 cup of organic strawberry yogurt, splash of apple juice, and ice. Trust me, you'll thank me later!!!
Cold to Frozen
Well on my return trip home yesterday from the frozen tundra of Minnesota, let's just say it wasn't fun. For some reason we were over 1 hour delayed getting out of Minnesota therefore yep you guessed it...I missed my connection. When the plan landed in Charlotte I had 5 minutes to get to the otherside of the airport. I knew my running skills were going to have to come into play, but I guess since I'm not Chris McCormack (07 Ironman World Champion) I didn't make it in time. Not to mention I made a crucial pit stop at the restroom....If I were Ironman racing, there would be no stopping, just go. Maybe I should start to travel in my Tri-suit, and use that philosophy. :) So as the wheels touched down in Pittsburgh I still had a long way to go before I got home. There was a 4 car accident on the parkway and it took me over two hours to drive from the airport to my front door. As soon as I got home, we were off to the pool. At least the swim workout was pretty easy because I was in no mood to work out hard tonight. I also was thinking some really bad thoughts about Saturday morning with the chance that I'd be spending 3 hours indoors on the trainer.
So we woke up this morning around 7:00, got out of bed around 7:30 and I called my biking buddy Paul. It was cold out but the roads were dry so we decided to give it a go. Now when I say it was cold out, I really mean it was cold out. It was only 19 degrees outside with winds at 10-15 mph making it feel like 10 degrees. I layered up and we were off. We managed to get in two hours before I called it quits. At this point I couldn't feel my toes and was wondering if they were still in my shoes. Also not long into the ride I was unable to drink anymore out of my Profile Design Aero Drink. Take a close look at the straw....yep frozen!

So here I am finishing up the 2 hours outside our house. I should have been holding up a thermometer.

So regardless, I still had an hour to go so I took off a couple layers (4 to be exact) and finished up in the basement where the temperature was 50 degrees warmer.
Burrrr is it cold!!! (2 degrees cold)
Well typically I am pretty smart about my training but tonight was not the case. See today is my birthday, I'm away from home in Minnesota, and the last thing I wanted to do was run indoors on a treadmill for an hour. There was only one little problem however. The temperature outside read a chilling 2 degrees F. According to weather.com it feels like -11 degrees. Let's just say good thing I didn't know that ahead of time. Regardless I suited up in my UnderArmour gear and headed out the the hotel lobby in preparation for my run. It wasn't long in before everything started to go numb. I actually turned around at 5 minutes in and started to make my way back to the hotel room but thought...there is no way I want to run on that stinkin treadmill. So I talked myself into running a little bit longer. About 3 miles in the iPod had enough. My headphones were rock solid, and the iPod turned off without any notice. (don't worry it's working now) I guess Mr. iPod doesn't like single digit temps either. :)
About 4 miles in I couldn't feel my fingers nor toes and said to myself, it's time to head back. 51 minutes in sub freezing temperatures is even too hardcore for me believe it or not. Trust me, I'd much rather sit in a bath filled with ice, but still would prefer single digits over the treadmill any day.
Travel Day
Well yesterday was a work travel day. This week I was off again to Minneapolis Minnesota. But before I caugut my plane at noon I had to get in an hour on the bike. I was really tired during the workout most likely because of Tuesday's hard workout....or it was just a matter of not yet having my coffee! My flight connected through Charlotte where they have my favorite smoothie shop, Jamba Juice. I always order my favorite drink, "
Strawberry Whirl". It's by far the best in my opinion and is also 100% real fruit. So anyways, I was lucky both segments of my flight as I was upgraded to first class. Trust me, a small benifit for traveling like a mad man. At least I didn't get off the plane with leg cramps. Once I checked in to my hotel, it was off to the local YMCA for my pool workout. After a easy 40 minutes in the pool, my day was almost done. I met up with a co-worker and headed out to a really fancy italian dinner. I was probably a little underdressed for the place in my dirty running sneakers, but that's alright. Today is going to be a long day. I have a customer from Korea coming into town, so hopefully all goes well with testing (you know work stuff).
One more easy ride
Well after the ice bath I still had one more bike workout to finish up the week. Jen and I did an easy 77 minutes tonight and we finished up watching "Catch me if you can" and then watched the end of the NY Giants & Dallas Cowboys game. I really cannot stand the Cowboys so I was very happy to see the Giants win! So to sum up the week I swam 7,950 yards, biked 97 miles, and ran a little over 30 miles. Good night all, and I am
soooo looking forward to a day off tomorrow (well day off from working out)....I still have to work, go to meetings all day, then head down to the Pens game at Mellon arena...
ok well that last part is fun!
Ice Bath Bandwagon
Okay, so I decided to jump on the ice bath bandwagon. It's been at least 3 or 4 months since I took a 40 degree dip in the tub. After reading
Beth's post and my new blog friend
Merit's post (I'm sure she has no clue who I even am) so it's sort of a one way friendship right now....lol, I decided to take the 15 minute plunge into pure pins and needles all out pain. My legs have been really sore lately so I figured what the heck. It's always rough getting in, but after a couple minutes all goes numb and it's actually quite refreshing. All I needed was for Jen to make me some hot chocolate. Maybe next time. Sorry no pics....I didn't want to get my clothes wet so I dipped in the buff and let me tell you, being a guy it brings on a whole new meaning to cold and uncomfortable....especially once the water leve reaches a ceartain point!!!
Sunday, and another week in the books
I'm starting to get used to these days where I don't have to set an alarm clock or worry to much about getting certain things done. However on Sunday's especially when a swim is involved we have to get to the pool by 1:30 in order to get in our hour workout. So we got out of bed around 8:30 this morning and Jen made her awesome batch of waffles. This has to be one of my favorite breakfasts of all time especially when there's pure maple syrup involved!!! By the time our food digested and we actually got motivated to workout it was 11:00 AM. Boy how fast the day flies by. As you can guess we were already cutting it close if we were to get in a good hour in at the pool. So the run today called for 90 minutes working into zone 3, which for me felt really easy today. About 4 or 5 miles in I was clicking off 6:20 - 6:30 miles with ease and was keeping my HR below 170. Eventually I started to slow down a little but was still running some good miles. Jen was a little behind me so I waited for her with 15 minutes left and we cooled down nice and easy. As soon as we got home it was a quick turn around and we were off to the pool. Coach told me to take it easy today and do some long 500 yarders. We got in close to six 500 intervals and again I felt really good. I feel that my swim technique is getting better by the week. Maybe a sub 60 minute IM swim in Placid might actually be in my future...we'll see :)
So after 2 1/2 hours of working out today I'm really dreading having to climb on the trainer for that last 90 minute ride for the week. Good news is that next week is a (short) test week. Volume is down, but intensity is up. I'm not sure what I'd rather have?
Another 50+ mile ride in the bag
Well this morning started off pretty slow. I had a really hard time getting out of bed and was really feeling like I could have slept for another 3 or 4 hours. We got out of bed around 7:30 and that gave me about an hour and a half to wake up and get moving. Paul arrived right on schedule as normal at 9:00 AM. It wasn't too cold of a morning, and I hate to say but 35 degrees on the bike is starting to feel normal. We were off for our long ride of the weekend, and unlike last weekend where I spent over an hour above my Lactate Threshold, I told Paul I really wanted to stick to the workout and take a conservative approach. Overall I felt really good on the bike once I got moving but my dang left knee started to bother me again around 2 hours in. I feel like it wasn't as severe as the past two weeks so that's a good sign I guess. I got some ultrasound done yesterday on the tendon to help speed the recovery and that seems to do the trick after 2 or 3 visits. After I got home I wolfed down leftover pasta and pizza from our dinner last night and imported my garmin into training peaks. I know that we did a lot of climbing today but the GPS said we did over 8K feet of climbing....I'm a bit skeptic of those numbers. If that's the case, I'm happy because we averaged close to 18 mph!!! (but I do think it's wrong)
It's off to the gym soon for a 45 minute workout with the weights.
Home Sweet Home
Well I got back from Houston late last night, and that gave me a chance to sleep in for a little bit. After I woke, I got on the trainer for a 90 minute ride with 30 minutes steady in zone 3. I felt pretty good but my knee started acting up again. After the ride and some work I headed over to the gym for a 45 minute weight lifting workout. I also focused on over working my abs. Tonight Jen and I are headed into Greensburg for our swim. Hopefully I feel more into it tonight than I did Wednesday night.
Coming Home
Currently I'm sitting in Houston at the airport. My flight leaves Houston today at 3:39 (4:39 EST) and all appears to be on-time etc. As for yesterday I had a decent day of training. Living out of a suitcase often makes it hard to train. For example I always seem to forget something. I remembered my Garmin watch, but left the HR strap at home. Sort of hard to train using heart rate without that... I kept telling myself I'd get up early this week to workout before work, but that never seemed to happen. Instead I did a back to back workout after we got back to the Hotel. I drove a couple miles to Memorial Park for my run.
http://www.memorialparkconservancy.org/index.cfm/MenuItemID/157.htmThis place really reminded me of the soft dirt trails in Austin, and it was hard to believe that this park was tucked in between forests of concrete. I ran on a 2.8 mile loop trail, and ran in till I got in my 75 minutes. I ran a pretty consistent 7:30 pace, and really felt like I was running easy. Afterwards I met up with my co-worker Brett and we headed across the street to the LA fitness center. The guest pass cost us $15 bucks per person, but at least I was able to get in a little bit of swimming. My workout called for 3400 yards, but after talking to my coach over the weekend, he thought it was a good idea to back off just a bit since I wasn't used to the heavy mileage in the water. So I swam till I felt my form was really breaking down and ended up with 2000 yards and and around a 40 minute swim workout. Brett wasn't a swimmer but instead shot basketball for a little over an hour while I swam. I met up with him afterwards and we shot some hoops before it was time to leave. By now it was around 8:00 PM and we still hadn't eaten any dinner. We found this really great steakhouse nearby and as I sit here typing away I think I still feel full from the 10oz Fillet!
I need to get in 90 minutes on the bike tonight, but my plane doesn't even land till 9:30 in Pittsburgh. By the time I get home it'll be 10:30ish, and we'll then see if I have what it takes to climb on the trainer for 25-30 miles.
Jen wants to go swimming in the morning, tomorrow so come Friday afternoon I might be running on fumes.
Week in Houston
So far the weather here in Houston has been nice. When I arrived here on Monday the temp was topping out around 78 or 79 degrees. However having not run in this temperature (or humidity) in a couple of months it was very hard to get the motor going. We're staying about 30 minutes away from the Toshiba plant where I'm working this week, but that was on purpose. See most hotels in highly populated areas are surrounded by concrete and are not runner friendly. I keep trying to tell this to the people I'm here with, but they just don't understand. Also the YMCA is relatively close too even though I haven't made it to the pool yet this week. Anyways, yesterday was my off day, and today it's back to intense training. I was going to wake up early for my run, but didn't want to run in a dark neighborhood that I'm not familiar with so I'll hopefully get in my run after work tonight.
As far as work goes, we went to a very unique Texas bar-b-que restaurant for lunch yesterday. I tried to eat healthy, but even the vegetables I ordered must of been drained of all nutrients.
Well I'm off to breakfast and ready for another long day of work :(
Philly Layover
Guess what. I'm in my favorite airport! Haha, yeah right. I don't think I've ever gotten out of here on time. Well anyways, I hope to get into Houston around 1PM, and get in a solid 90 minutes of running, and a long swim.
3 hours of wet
Well sorry all for again a 4 day absence from my blog, but again I've been super busy lately. Let start off with Thursday. I put in a pretty long day at work today, and after work Jen and I headed out for an hour run with the Irwin gang. Thursdays run was extremely cold. It had to be the coldest night of the winter so far. After 3 or 4 miles I literately couldn't feel my toes, but by the end of the run I managed to get in close to 8 miles. We went in to Giant Eagle real quick for some granola snacks, and then I headed over to the gym for 45 minutes. After the gym I just went home and went to bed. When we woke up Friday morning we had all intentions of going swimming but Jen wasn't feeling well, and we decided to wait till after work. So when we finally decided to get up for our showers we found out we didn't have water. Turns out our pipes froze overnight since it was so cold out, and we had to go over to the gym for our morning showers etc. Not a fun way to start the Friday. But after work it got better. We were off to the pool and swam a quick 3050 yards. After the pool we went to Joioes Pizza (sorry I think I butchered the spelling) in Greensburg for dinner and it was simply awesome. I love their sweet sauce, and it has to be one of my favorite local pizza joints. So after we got home, we again went straight to bed. Anyone see a pattern here?
Saturday morning started a very busy Saturday. We got up around 8 and went out for our 9 1/2 mile run. Got home, showered and were off to the afternoon Penguin game with my friend Mike and his wife Lynne. After we got home both of us jumped on the trainers for a quick 20 miles and finished up just in time for the Steeler playoff game. As we layed there on the couch our eyes grew extremely heavy and we were both out by halftime. I heard we missed a good 2nd half of the football game, but they still lost :(
This morning was a little more controlled. Paul was scheduled to arrive at 9:00 AM for our weekend bike ride. Paul and I headed out on the roads today and rode a very hilly 3 hours. (then again we live in Western PA, so every ride is a hilly ride). Put it this way, we ended up climbing over 4K feet total today, and averaged just under 18mph. Not too bad for early January! We got done a little after noon and we both knew we had to hurry to Greensburg for our swim workout since the pool is only open till 2:30. It was a good thing that the swim workout was a little short (2450 yards) and we managed to get it done in under 50 minutes.
Since we got home we've been trying to straighten up and take down our Christmas decorations and also took down the tree. I can hear the vacuum running right now actually, so I better go see if she needs some help.
Tomorrow morning I'm off to Houston Texas for the week. The high in Houston tomorrow calls for 78 degrees, so I can guarantee you I'll be out running my legs off!
Happy New Year
First off I'd like to say Happy New Year to you all. Jen and I had an awesome time at our friend Joe and Sheryl's for New Years Eve. It was our first time there for new years and we were only planning on staying there for an hour or two, but ended up never leaving! There was tons of great food and of course the "White Elephant" gift exchange. Jen and I ended up getting Denny and Eric's old / broken 5K running trophies, Drew got this awful ceramic chicken, Lisa got some blow up air shoes, and Alan gave away his teeth moldings (you know those castings the dentist makes before you get teeth work). There were many other awesome gifts and I'm already thinking of a gift idea for next year! As for New Years day Jen and I took it easy and the highlight of the day was watching the NHL Penguin Ice Bowl game played outside at Buffalo's football stadium in front of over 70,000 people. It was by far the coolest hockey game I've ever seen. Much better than any college football bowl game! :) We spent the rest of the night watching TV, relaxing, and I also spent a good majority of the day transferring my 350+ CD collection to iTunes. Doug and his girlfriend were out our way and stopped over for a minute to say hello. After that it was dinner and off to bed. The alarm went off quite early this morning and Jen and I were soon off to the YMCA for our swim workout. The roads were covered with snow and it took probably an extra 10-15 minutes to get there. Once we got the YMCA, swimsuit on, we opened the door to the pool and it was LOCKED!!! NO LIFEGUARD! I guess the lifeguard doesn't have 4WD, so it was back in the shower and off to work. It figures, the one time I wake up to swim, I don't get to swim. The good news is that I made it to work early and get to leave at 3:30. This way I'll head straight to the pool after work before my trainer ride.
