My Life - The Triathlon Way

Just another Saturday in the Burgh

The countdown is 3 weeks to Clearwater and all my training partners seasons are over, so that means training alone and by myself. Not to mention it's cold out here. Fall is officially here and when we woke up this morning it was in the thirties. The plan was to wait for it to warm up, but it never did. So by the time 10:30 came around, I decided to move on with my day. Today's workout was a 3 hour brick (2 hour bike / 1 hour run) at race pace. I decided that I needed to get some flat riding in, and the closest flat section is about a 35 minute bike ride from home. Once I made it to the flats, I hammered it for the next 50 minutes. I felt good considering how cold and windy it was. I was able to stay steady at 23+ miles per hour, slightly slower than my planned pace for Clearwater. Once I got home I transitioned to a 8 mile run slightly faster than 7:00 minute mile pace. I felt a lot better on the run then I did on the bike. I wonder if it's because of the taper? They always say that first taper week is a doozie.
