Pre Race Check In
Wow what a long day. After checking into my hotel, it was time to unpack my bike and get ready for the big race in the morning. Here's a picture of where I'm staying tonight. Nothing great, but what do you expect for free!

I was some what disappointed at the race venue actually. The surrounding area is very nice, but the expo and transition area is in this really run down old park and there was broken glass everywhere in the parking lot. Not to mention all participants were charged five bucks to park in the abandon lot. Very strange.
So after I checked in and got my race packet I put on my wetsuit and jumped into the bay. I've been doing so much pool swimming that it really felt different in open water and especially different with the saltwater. I went pretty easy in the water and swam for about 15 minutes. After the swim I got my bike out of the car and went for a 30 minute ride followed by a 15 minute run. My legs really felt good on the bike, but my heart rate was way too high on the run. I really think it was because of the heat, and my body reacting to the enormous temperature shift. I was done with all my workouts by 4PM, and left my bike in transition overnight.
After I got back to the hotel I took a walk down the boardwalk right on the ocean. It was great! I had a very nice pasta dinner at a local restaurant, and headed back to my room.
I'm going to try to get to bed early since I plan on being in transition by 5:15 AM.
