Sunday, and another week in the books

I'm starting to get used to these days where I don't have to set an alarm clock or worry to much about getting certain things done. However on Sunday's especially when a swim is involved we have to get to the pool by 1:30 in order to get in our hour workout. So we got out of bed around 8:30 this morning and Jen made her awesome batch of waffles. This has to be one of my favorite breakfasts of all time especially when there's pure maple syrup involved!!! By the time our food digested and we actually got motivated to workout it was 11:00 AM. Boy how fast the day flies by. As you can guess we were already cutting it close if we were to get in a good hour in at the pool. So the run today called for 90 minutes working into zone 3, which for me felt really easy today. About 4 or 5 miles in I was clicking off 6:20 - 6:30 miles with ease and was keeping my HR below 170. Eventually I started to slow down a little but was still running some good miles. Jen was a little behind me so I waited for her with 15 minutes left and we cooled down nice and easy. As soon as we got home it was a quick turn around and we were off to the pool. Coach told me to take it easy today and do some long 500 yarders. We got in close to six 500 intervals and again I felt really good. I feel that my swim technique is getting better by the week. Maybe a sub 60 minute IM swim in Placid might actually be in my future...we'll see :)

So after 2 1/2 hours of working out today I'm really dreading having to climb on the trainer for that last 90 minute ride for the week. Good news is that next week is a (short) test week. Volume is down, but intensity is up. I'm not sure what I'd rather have?
