Pump up the volume

Well today marked my longest training week so far of the year, and I'm officially spent! Today was a very long day and I know I'm going to sleep well tonight. As I went to bed last night I was trying to stay optimistic because I had a 3 1/2 hour ride scheduled for the morning. The plan was to sleep in, eat breakfast, go swim, eat lunch, then go for a bike ride before it got dark. Well all went as planned except for one thing. It decided to snow all night long, and we woke with 2-3 inches covering the roads. :( Now I needed a miracle. What were the chances the snow would melt by the time we got home from our swim? ZERO!!! I had to face reality. I was about to go the distance indoors. Now this is a new territory for me. I've biked many century rides outdoors, biked the distance in six Ironman races, why should a 55 (60 at best) mile trainer ride scare me? I'll tell you why. See when you're outdoors you can ease up on the downhills, shift around on your saddle, stand up more often, stretch, oh and you get move fast!!! Very fast at times!!! Indoors is boring. You pop in a movie or a Spinerval, and there's no coasting. Indoors when you stop pedaling, your wheel stops too. VERY BIG DIFFERENCE! ....So let me back up a little. We ate our breakfast it was off to the pool. Today was a big swim workout. 3600 yards total with the main set consisting of 1x1000 yards, 10x100's, and 400 yards of kicking. After we were done swimming we decided to stop at the grocery store for some food for the week. People say to never go to the store when you're hungry, and now I know why! After $130 bucks it was time to come home!!! We cooked up some awesome lemon Tilapia and some rice and it was time to climb on the trainer. We watched two movies and even had time left over to watch some other stuff on TV. Believe it or not the 3 1/2 hours went by faster than I thought. The workout called for 6x10 minute intervals in big ring / 12 (hardest gear on the bike). So here we are..... 4 hours and 45 minutes of training today and I'm cooked. I finished the week with 9600 yards of swimming, 112 miles of biking, and 33 miles of running for a total time of 14 hours and 22 minutes.
