Wow have I been busy

Well after returning from Minneapolis late Wednesday night, my week has just flown by ever since. Thursday morning I woke up and got in my Lactate test on the bike. The bike test was the same as the running. I maintained an average 171 HR for the ride. After work Thursday night I went for a swim to figure out my T-Time (Average 100 / yard swim) over 1000 yards.
After the test my T-Time was around a 1:36. A little slower than I thought, but not too bad.

Thursday night Jen's cousin from Fredrick MD visited us in addition to Jen's brother Ryan, sister in law Ange, and there new baby Marty. We ordered pizza, looked at wedding and Hawaii pictures, then watched a combination of the Pitt Basketball game, the Steeler game, and the Penguin game. It was a good night in Pittsburgh for our home team sports. Pitt knocked off Duke, the Pens beat the Bruins in a shootout, and the Steelers clinched a playoff spot beating the Rams.

Friday was again a very busy day. After work I dressed warm and headed out on a 80 minute bike ride. It felt really good to be outside again on the bike. I don't think it's going to last however since a cold front is coming in today. :( After I got home from my ride, Jen and I headed into town for the Penguin game against the NY Islanders. My friend Mike and his wife Lynn were there with us, and although the Pen's lost, we all had a fun night.

Now for Saturday. Boy was this a busy day. It started off with a 2 and a half hour bike ride with Paul (http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=1507573 ). I really enjoy riding with Paul, but really need to be in top shape when riding with him. Somehow he is able to maintain fitness all year long and is a really strong rider (hence his nickname "Paul the Animal"). We didn't ride very hard mainly because of me. I've been experimenting with some aero changes on my bike and raised my seat up just a hair. I think this is what is causing my left knee to hurt with every pedal revolution. My knee hurt the entire ride, but I managed to push through it. After the ride, Jen and I had a quick lunch, relaxed just for a little bit, and headed off to the pool. We swam 1700 yards with seven descending 100 yard intervals. My fastest 100 was 1:23 (I know, not fast for you swimmers out there), which I think is my fastest time yet.

After the pool Jen and I headed straight to the Ice Rink in Delmont. See growing up, my #1 passion was playing hockey. I wouldn't have even gotten into running unless I didn't play hockey. Well once a year Penn Trafford has it's annual Alumni game. I haven't been on the ice for close to a year, but it's just like riding a bike (you don't forget). Having endurance has always been a big advantage for me. Everyone else is tired in 30 seconds, and I'm just getting warmed up. My friend Rob and Matt were my wingers, and we had a really fun time and it felt like high school again. We didn't really keep score but I know I scored a couple times during the night. After the game some of us went out afterwards to Rick's Sports Bar for dinner and cocktails. This bar has to have 1000+ beers on tap and in the cooler, but they didn't have Kona beer. So I'll have to wait till October for that nice cold lager taste! :)

By the time we got home around 9:00 PM I was beat. Jen said I was twitching all night so that definitely means I was exhausted. I'm a little sore this morning from hockey, swimming, and biking, but not sore enough to skip a workout. Well we just finished up eating breakfast and hopefully will head out the door soon for our run and beat the rain that's coming this way.
