Harrisburg Marathon - Pre Race
Well we're 70 minutes from start time, and still laying in bed. Actually we're all ready to run, and are only about 1/2 mile away from the start line. It's about 30 degrees out right now, and I wish I was in Clearwater for the 70.3 IM Championships. But instead Jen and I are in Harrisburg. Both of us feel pretty good, with no major nagging injuries. Jen's foot is a little sore, and my hip still gives me a little trouble, but then again we're only running a marathon. I'm going to go out at a 7:15 pace, and see how I feel halfway through. Hopefully I feel pretty good, and can negative split (something I've never done before in a marathon). If I don't feel very good, then I'll just back off, and try to qualify for Boston at another race.
We met up with my friend Todd and Sean last night for dinner at the Fire House. It was this really cool restaurant that used to be a fire station. The menu wasn't really driven towards the carbo loading athlete, but we were able to find some starches that hopefully help today.
Anyways we better start heading over there soon.
PS: Congrats to our Irwin runners, Mike Fallon, Lisa Cimbala, and Alan Hill for their awesome marathon run in Richmond yesterday. Also congrats to Beth Shutt with her 12th place Age Group finish at the IM 70.3 Worlds in Clearwater! Awesome day to all of you and what a way to end your 2007 season!
After today I'm going to take another 3 weeks off in prep for the off season.
